My name is Richard, I was born April 5th, 1983 in Brooklyn, NY. Raised by my mother and grandmother, I have a younger brother and older sister. By the grace of God we survived the drugs, gangs, crime, and violence - but my father didn't. He passed when I was 9 years old.
In 2005 at age 22, my life was stagnant. So I moved to Allentown PA to jump start my life. In PA I got my first apartment, my first car and then had my first child - my son is 10 years old at the time of this post. When I hit 30, my life was not getting any better in terms of a vision for my future and what I will leave my son. So I moved to Winter Park, FL in 2014 to detox - meaning I stopped drinking, clubbing, and chasing women and money, all the low life stuff that I devoted my energy to.
I started to study great black men in history. My first books were Up from Slavery by Booker T Washington, Fredrick Douglas' Narratives of Slavery and The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley. That study led me to black consciousness and the desire to know more about the struggle of my people in the past and how it effects me today.
Then Mike Brown (a black teenager) was killed by a white policeman who walked free. As a father it hit me very hard and I realized that the problem is not limited to place and persons, but the system itself is against us. I searched for solutions to the problem so I can be a part of the solution and not just complain from the sideline.
So I started to study everything black including our history, slavery, slave revolts, civil rights, and all of our liberation movements and organizations. That in depth study led me to the Nation of Islam, which is everything I was looking for and more. The teachings of Elijah Muhammad under the leadership of Minister Louis Farrakhan teaches and trains black people like nothing else I have seen. Not saying others didn't or don't at all but after learning about Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali and Louis Farrakhan I was blown away and wanted to be just like them.
Their lives are real life examples of what I needed to make me the better man I was looking to be to help in black liberation. So, after studying for 3 years and weighing other options I decided for me there was no better option.
I joined and received my X on January 28, 2018.
So now as a student of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, under the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, and as a believer, follower and soldier in the army of Allah (GOD), I am required to share what I was given that transformed my life. So we can all be raised to a better level where there is freedom, justice and equality for all.
So I pray you appreciate my blog as I grow in knowledge, wisdom and understanding while striving to live a righteous and just life, with the help of Allah (God) and his Christ.
This is only the beginning...
